These sweet children from Thyatira Presbyterian Church in North Carolina send cards regularly that we pass out to various people and churches that have been affected by Hurricane Harvey. We can not tell you how touching and uplifting their kindness is! They even had t-shirts made in our honor. Thank you Thyatira Presbyterian!
Help Is On The Way!
On Sunday, December 17 we will welcome 11 college students from the University of Illinois who will be staying at JKPC for one week to help restore homes in the Houston area that were flooded when Hurricane Harvey went through here. These students belong to an organization called "Alternative Spring Break" and spend their time off from school assisting those affected by natural disasters around the country. They've made arrangements to work each day they are here through the "St. Bernard Project." We will provide blow-up mattresses (thanks to our good friends at Pines Presbyterian Church) for them to sleep on at night and allow the use of our kitchen so they may prepare meals each evening. In addition, we have offered to provide a meal for them on Tuesday evening, December 19. After checking on allergies/likes/dislikes it was determined that they would enjoy a good 'ole Texas BBQ meal. If you are able to help provide this meal, please contact Debbi in the church office (713.462.5448). Please keep each of these students in prayer as they travel from Chicago to Houston the weekend of December 16-17 and as they work to provide help to those in need.
