Get involved in one of the many Center Volunteer opportunities to help wildlife. Volunteers at TWRC Wildlife Center are the backbone of our organization. They supply the force behind our mission to rehabilitate, release and education the public. We are inspired by our volunteers’ devotion to the community responsibility of caring for our Texas wildlife.
OPPOSSUM AND PALS PROGRAM - Each year thousands of ill, injured and orphaned wildlife get a second chance at life thanks to the dedicated volunteers and staff at TWRC Wildlife Center who care for them until they can be returned to the wild.
REHABILITATION - Become a Rehabber with TWRC! Rehabilitating wildlife can be an extremely rewarding experience. Some people do this year round and others only occasionally. Most species require a prospective rehabber to obtain special permits to be able to rehabilitate birds, mammals or reptiles.
BABY BIRD PROGRAM - Each summer, an average of 1500 baby birds are brought in by caring individuals and families. In 2001, we opened the Baby Bird Program, in which volunteers provide comprehensive onsite care for these baby birds. With so many baby birds vying for attention, we are always looking for caring volunteers to help us.
BABY SQUIRREL PROGRAM - In the early spring and early fall TWRC Wildlife Center receives hundreds of baby squirrels from rescuers. These squirrels will be fed and cared for in our onsite Baby Squirrel Program until they are old enough to transition to release back into the wild.
To find out more information about these programs or about becoming a volunteer, please go to the TWRC website: www.twrcwildlifecenter.org/volunteer/ or call 713.468.8972.

The Houston International Seafarers’ Centers are a “home away from home” for seafarers visiting the Port of Houston. Chartered in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s as a non-profit organization under the laws of the State of Texas, the two Centers have during their existence, served over a million visiting seafarers. Both Centers exist as the result of a deep desire and concern within the local maritime industry, followed by active support and involvement of the community and local churches, to provide a safe and welcoming recreational and spiritual environment on land for those who have chosen the sea as their livelihood.
Recognizing that all human persons are a gift of God, the mission of the chaplains and Committee for Ministry to the Port of Houston is to carry out a ministry of presence, outreach, witness, worship, service, and advocacy to, with, and for seafarers and their families from around the world.
