Who Are We?

                                                                                            Mission Statement

Our purpose is to "Love the Lord our God with all our heart and with all our soul and with all our mind." and to "Love our neighbor as ourselves." Our mission is
  • Discovering God through worship, prayer and study of the Bible;
  • Obeying what the Bible says about being God's family, guided by the leading of the Holy Spirit;
  • Making new disciples as we share God's love with all people and embrace the diversity in our community; and
  • Fostering justice as we feed the hungry, help the homeless and provide care to those in need.

Presbyterian churches are governed by a group called the Session.   The Session consists of a "Teaching Elder" or Pastor, and nine lay leaders, whom we call "Ruling Elders."  Ruling Elders serve three year terms and are divided into three classes designated by the last year in which they will serve.  Each Ruling Elder is assigned an area of responsibility to lead the ministries and mission of the church. A Clerk of Session and a Treasurer are also elected to serve each year.

On the national level John Knox Presbyterian Church is a part of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). We are in the Synod of the Sun and the Presbytery of the New Covenant all of whom lend help, guidance and support.
